On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the world became less vibrant with the sudden and unexpected passing of Michael Cady.
Although he may be not here with us physically, Mike’s spirit, wisdom and dynamic personality will live on through his vast circle of family and friends forever.
We invite you to share your stories and photos of Big Mike here as a tribute to his remarkable life and the positive impact he made on all he knew.
If you were fortunate enough to have known Mike for a lifetime or had only just met him, there’s no doubt he left a memorable impression upon you. He was a mountain of a man who loved God, family and his country — and he had an incredible ability to make you laugh, think, debate, and most importantly, appreciate and value time together.
We invite you to share your memories of Mike
with us.
Mike shares an inspirational message with his beloved Cadets before they take the field in their rivalry game against Gonzaga on November 9, 2019.
Mike lived and loved everything football — from a young boy (he’s sitting in the front row, second from the right) to a Parade Magazine High School All American offensive guard at St. John’s College High School. Mike wore No. 68 at SJC. He then went to play at Texas A&M for legendary coach Gene Stallings and professionally in the World League of Football. The culmination of his football life occurred on November 2, 2018 when he and his teammates from the 1968 Catholic League championship team were inducted into the St. John’s Athletic Hall of Fame. He was incredibly proud of his playing days, but this was the ultimate highlight of his football life.
